Stoke's Rinse are a band that have making waves in their hometown for quite some time now and are on the verge of breaking out big time beyond as well. With the recent release of their latest track Taser Party they're broadening their horizons and we spoke to them about it.
First of all could you introduce the band and tell us who does what?
We are Josh Hollingworth on vocals and guitar, Rick Hewitt on guitar, Josh Hassall on bass and Ollie McNicholas on drums
How did you guys get together?
We have all been mates for years and been in previous band and when they ended we decided to start RINSE.
There's quite a thriving scene in Stoke at the moment with the legendary Sugarmill and venues like The Underground. How has that helped your development as a band?
We love The Sugarmill more than a mother loves a child. They have always been great to us getting us shows with bands we might not have got ourselves and always there to give advice. The Exchange is also a great venue for Stoke with it being a smaller venue. It's always packed.
Your artwork is very visually striking and colourful. Is it done by the band and how does it match your music?
No we use a guy called Callum Scott-Dyson for all our artwork he’s a genius. We have always wanted mad artwork with everything we have done. I think it draws more people in and we have found we get more plays the crazier the artwork.
Could you tell us a little about your new single Taser Party?
Taser Party was one of the first tunes we every wrote and has always been in the set from more or less day one. It's one of them tracks people have always said “Record that, I love it” it's always great to play live gets people loose and ready to have it.
And what you have planned to promote it?
We have it up on all our social media for people to listen to but its getting a lot of airplay on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio which is helping us out. We have sent it out to blogs to have a listen.
What are your aims for the rest of 2016 and beyond? Is there an album in the pipeline?
No we won’t be releasing an album just yet. We are looking at more tours and festivals just keep gigging as much as we possibly can to get as many people onboard with what we are doing. We have a few new tunes written and a massive EP in the pipeline to record and release.
One final question, if someone is reading this and hasn't heard you before, how would you describe your music?
