Track Of The Day : The Slowdown Family - Pomona

Pomona is the first fruits of the sessions that Liam Frost embarked on with The Slowdown Family once they got together earlier this year to perform their debut album Show Me How The Spectres Dance at Manchester's Deaf Institute earlier this year.

The song, as you'd expect from any project Liam is involved in, is steeped in finest songwriting traditions. Unflinchingly melodic, heartfelt and with words that could be written down as poetry, Pomona has a haunting keyboard line that returns at various points to sit alongside Liam's world-weary resigned vocals - "I fixed my gaze, quick in the wind, Turned my heels again. Walk away.
My starving eyes had swallowed all. The devil’s on his way."

The Slowdown Family have promised a new record in 2017 and premiered a couple of new songs plus tracks from Liam's solo The Wild Places EP that could appear on it at a recent show at Manchester's Gorilla - review here.

Liam Frost can be found on FacebookSoundcloudYoutube and Twitter.

The song can be purchased from The Slowdown Family's Bandcamp page.
