EVEN THE STARS PLAYLIST 2

The second Even The Stars playlist features ten songs from artists we've been listening to recently and which we'd love to share with our readers. It features She Drew The Gun, Josh Kemp, Control Of The Going, Cosmo Calling, Jennie Abrahamson, Phoebe Green, Liv Dawson, Joe Dolman, Einar Vilberg and Mushy Callahan.

1. She Drew The Gun - No Hole In My Head

A cover of Malvina Roberts' folk protest song, No Hole In My Head features on Memories Of Another Future, a reworked version of their debut album. They're also on tour this month with dates in St Albans The Horn (23), London Oslo (24), Liverpool Central Library (25), Newcastle Cluny (26), Bath Komedia (28), Bristol The Exchange (29), Manchester Deaf Institute (30) and Hebden Bridge Trades Club (31).

She Drew The Gun's official site can be found here. They are also on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.

2. Josh Kemp - U.R

Taken from his Wonderful World EP, U.R is a beautifully intimate and heartfelt song from the unsigned Midlands singer-songwriter.

Josh can be found on Facebook and Twitter.

3. Control Of The Going - She

Manchester's Control Of The Going are about to go into the studio to record their debut album and if She is anything to go by, the psyche outsiders have mutated into real contenders with this huge hook-laden track.

Control Of The Going are on FacebookTwitter and Soundcloud.

4. Cosmo Calling - On The Wire

This debut single from the talented Manchester-based five piece sets them apart from most bands in town with a dual vocal approach from Phoebe and Harry that gives them a very rich and distinctive sound. Their live show demonstrates they've got plenty more in the locker too.

Cosmo Calling are on Facebook and Twitter.

5. Jennie Abrahamson - Anyone Who

Anyone Who comes from Swedish singer Jennie's fifth album Reverseries, released last month, and already one of our favourites of the year. Sadly her only UK date on the tour to support it is in London this Saturday (11) at The Lexington.

Jennie Abrahamson's official website can be found here and she is on Facebook and Twitter.

6. Phoebe Green - Maniac

Phoebe Green's self-released debut album 2am is set to become one of the year's undercover breakthrough records. Set against stark minimalist backing for the most part, the album showcases an artist with a real talent for telling articulate and cleverly observational stories from the streets.  She plays a rare live show at Gullivers in Manchester on April 11.

Phoebe Green is on Facebook and Twitter.

7. Liv Dawson - Searching

Not a style we'd generally be too interested in, but there's something about Liv's voice in this track produced by Disclosure that drew us in. She's signed to Rocket, the home of Elton John and Ed Sheeran, so we'd expect to hear a lot more of her in the future too.

Liv Dawson's official site can be found here and she is on Facebook and Twitter.

8. Joe Dolman - Separate Ways

The twenty-year singer-songwriter shows a lot of promise with this latest single ahead of his upcoming tour which takes in London Troubadour (7), Birmingham Sunflower Lounge (9), Manchester Castle Hotel (13), Leeds Milo Bar (14) and Sheffield Rocking Chair (15).  Intimate and delicate in parts with a soaring chorus, it's an emotional outpouring that hints at a lot more to come.

Joe Dolman is on Facebook and Twitter.

9. Einar Vilberg - Something To Lean On

Something To Lean On is a big, bold exciting rock song from the Icelandic singer's forthcoming solo album. Taking a breather from his band Noise after the release of their fourth album Echoes last year, this is a great lead track from the new record.

Einar Vilberg's official website can be found here and he is on Facebook and Twitter.

10. Mushy Callahan - Outta My Hands

Outta My Hands is the second track released by the Toronto-based four piece from a forthcoming EP. We particularly love its completely unpretentious good time feel good blues tinged approach.

Mushy Callahan's official site can be found here and they are on Facebook and Twitter.
