Following up a massively successful debut album and taking new songs on the road when you've got an audience that's still growing and discovering you is one of the hardest things a band can face. The massive contrast between every word being sung back to you at a volume that drowns you out and baying for the next big hit versus the natural musicians' desire to reveal their latest work is one that all successful bands face at least once in their career. Catfish And The Bottlemen are at that point and tonight's gig in the intimate surroundings of Halifax's Victoria Theatre is one of the first tests of that for them ahead of the release of their second album The Ride in May.

It's been a meteoric rise for Catfish And The Bottlemen in the last eighteen months, going from the Night And Day to selling out two nights at the Apollo in half a morning. It's a daunting prospect playing to 7,000 people armed with just one solitary album, but it's another move that they take effortlessly in their stride as we witnessed them triumph on the second night.

Catfish And The Bottlemen are the latest indie buzz-band, championed by XFM and Radio 1 and getting serious airplay on both.  They're out on what seems like a never-ending tour of smaller venues to grow their already sizeable following.  We caught up with them at Manchester's FAC251 to see if all the hype is justified.
