Jonny Woodhead / From Carbon / Edwin Miles / Laura James / Tom Blackwell / Liam McClair - Manchester Bridgewater Hall - 30th July 2016

You might not have heard of Red Balloon Music, but you should. They put on some of the best and most diverse folk nights in the country at The Castle in Manchester. This humid Saturday afternoon they were asked to curate a stage as part of the Bridgewater Hall's Festival and came up with a dazzling line up. We caught six of the nine acts on show - Jonny Whitehead, From Carbon, Edwin Miles, Laura James, Tom Blackwell and Liam McClair.

Janileigh Cohen / Liam McClair - Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre - 15th July 2016

Once a month the Royal Exchange hosts a special series of arts events under the name of Special FX from 6 to 7pm. The event showcases some of the best local talent and Friday night was no exception as Bolton's talented Janileigh Cohen and the seemingly omnipresent Liam McClair charmed an audience into silence with an hour of fragile emotional folk music of the highest order.

Dave Fidler / Liam McClair - Manchester Texture - 24th May 2016

One of Manchester's hidden unexpected gems as a gig venue, Texture, played host to a fundraising gig for Gorton's Rushbrook Academy, a primary school situated in area with one of the worst deprivation rates in the country.  Dave Fidler and Liam McClair played solo sets and the school held an auction for signed Elbow memorabilia in order to raise funds for several school projects.

Liam McClair’s appearance at the annual Castlefields Food and Drink Festival was one of the highlights of a rich and diverse musical line-up that celebrates and gives opportunities to some of the best under-the-radar talent in the city at present. With his smooth, highly accessible songwriting craft very much to the fore he charmed an audience enjoying the food, booze and the unusually sunny Manchester weather.

Liam McClair - Honest EP

The Honest EP is the first recorded material from Liam McClair with a band rather than solo. It's a huge step up for him both lyrically and musically on the back of a growing profile in and around Manchester on the back of some intimate live shows and the revelation of the songs that make up this EP.

Introducing - Liam McClair

Ahead of the launch of Liam McClair's new EP Honest with a show at Gullivers in Manchester next Friday, we tipped the title track on Shell Zenner's show on Amazing Radio today. Liam very kindly agreed to answer a few questions for us and tell us a little more about himself and the record.

Liam McClair / Jordan Allen / Hugo Kensdale - Manchester Dry Barge - 8th August 2015

A gig on a barge is a wonderful idea and the next in a series of interesting venues for Liam McClair in the build up to the launch of his Honest EP in September. Whilst the industrial sites of Trafford Park might not make the best canalside viewing, our attention was held by Liam, Jordan and Hugo's brilliant sets in a very unique setting.

Liam McClair / Sobi - Manchester Stevenson Square - 12th June 2015

A rooftop of Stevenson Square in the centre of Manchester isn't your traditional venue, but hidden away on the top of the building that holds Ply and Guilty By Association is an intimate performance space with views across the city. We were lucky enough to be invited to attend an acoustic performance by Liam McClair and Sobi.

Blossoms / Rory Wynne / Liam McClair - Stockport The Bungalow Club - 7th May 2015

The Bungalow Club is the social club attached to Stockport County's Edgeley Park football ground. Stockport is hometown to Blossoms, the best new band in Britain at the moment, and this is the second time they've played here in a matter of months to an adoring hometown crowd. And what's more, tonight's bill also included another young Stockport talent that's going to be on the tips of everyone's tongues very soon as well.

The Lottery Winners / Liam McClair / The Dom Major Band - Altrincham Cinnamon Club - 26th October 2014

A Sunday night in the leafy Altrincham suburb of Bowdon isn't the most rock and roll place in the world and neither are The Lottery Winners the most rock and roll band in the world, but sometimes the power of great songs and the charm of the front man can be worth more than regurgigated cliché as we found out at an entertaining Oxjam evening.
