Richard Hawley - Manchester HMV - 10th June 2019


To coincide with the release of his Top 3 album Further, Richard Hawley has been playing a series of acoustic in-stores to promote the album. Monday night saw Manchester's turn and the surreal sight of an artist who sold out the Albert Hall almost immediately play in a brightly lit room surrounded by CD shelves.

Richard Hawley concluded Bury Met’s Independent Venue Week celebrations with the second of two sold-out shows accompanied by his neighbour Martin Simpson, long-term collaborator Shez Sheridan and Manchester’s own Clive Mellor. Support came from local hero Liam Frost.

Richard Hawley / Liam Frost - Bury The Met - 3rd February 2018


Saturday saw Richard Hawley play the first of two sold-out nights at Bury Met as part of the centre's Independent Venue Week celebrations. Accompanied by long-term guitarist Shez Sheridan and harmonica player Clive Mellor, Richard delighted a spellbound crowd with a career-spanning set of songs supported by Bury's very own Liam Frost.

As part of Independent Venue Week, Richard Hawley played the first of two special acoustic nights accompanied only by his trusty guitarist Shez Sheridan and harmonica player Clive Mellor at Hebden Bridge Trades Club with support by Juanita Stein who is embarking on her debut album in the next few months.

He understands what makes great music and carves rather than crafts songs both in the studio and live. A rapt Albert Hall fell under his spell as he played tracks from his latest album Hollow Meadows as well as selected highlights from that immense back catalogue.

Joe Duddell - Interview

This Saturday, 8 September, Richard Hawley performs a selection of tracks from across his career with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the Magna Centre in Rotherham as part of the BBC Philharmonic presents series. The show will be broadcast live on BBC 6 Music from 7pm.

The set has been specially orchestrated for the event by Joe Duddell, whose previous work includes a tour with James and The Orchestra of the Swan, two performances with Elbow and the Halle Orchestra for MIF and a collaboration with Nero and the BBC Philharmonic. We spoke to Joe to find out more about the project and how it came about.
