Ist Ist today release their second single of the year and announce their
fourth album Light A Bigger Fire for release on September 20th.
Accompanied by a live performance video shot across their four sold-out Dutch
shows in March, the song is a bold statement of intent from the band ahead of
attempting to better the top 50 chart position of last year's
Protagonists.
One of five new songs from the record played at their sold out Independent Venue Week shows at the start of the year and their recent UK and European tour where they played to 8,000 people including selling out the 1,100 capacity Doornroosje in Nijmegen, The Kiss has already become a live favourite and one of their strongest singles to date.
Light A Bigger Fire also features recent single Lost My Shadow, the other three songs previewed on tour - Dreams Aren't Enough, Repercussions and I Can't Wait For You - and five other songs. One of those is Ghosts, a radical reworking of an early unreleased track. Produced by Joe Cross, the album is their strongest piece of work yet.
Light A Bigger Fire comes from a line in The Kiss and represents the band's outlook given they've gone full-time in 2024 as front man Adam Houghton explains - "The album title isn’t cryptic in the slightest. Everything we’re doing and have been doing for a while now is going up a level. Live shows have always been our calling card but this record puts our studio output on a par with them. We’ve always been proud of every album we’ve released but sometimes you come away and wonder whether you’ve left anything in the studio and whether you could have dragged something extra out of some of the songs. Not with this one. Right now this is the best version of us."
Light A Bigger Fire and previous records can be ordered via their website.
Digital versions of their previous limited edition releases and a number of live field recordings are available to download from their Bandcamp.
Ist Ist play Bearded Theory Festival (May 24), Y Not Festival (August 3), Manchester New Century (October 19) and Whitby Tomorrow's Ghosts Festival (November 1)._
