Cabbage return with a new single Get Outta My Brain and the announcement of a
new album Amanita Pantherina scheduled for release on September 25th.
The song harks back to the first three EPs that Cabbage released, where the adrenaline headrush of their music drew people in and took them along for the ride with them - razor-sharp bullet-like lyrical sections surrounded by moments of off-kilter musical chicanery. It's described as a "barely concealed homage to Shaun Ryder and Black Grape" and the similarities are evident here.
Co-vocalist Lee Broadbent explained the high-energy of the song and the
duality of Get Outta My Brain's lyrics - "The title of the track has two
meanings and it’s about the balance of how the two meanings constantly fight
each other - some people just want to run away and some people intoxicate
themselves to run away. It’s an attempt to channel the spirit of Manchester
and is purposely amped to become a choice cut when we get out to do it live."
Amanita Pantherina will feature eleven tracks including previous single You've Made An Art Form (From Falling Apart) as well as nine other tracks including Once Upon A Time In The North that was previewed at their Socialist Sunday appearance last December.
