TRACK OF THE DAY : Minerva Daisy - Substitute

Substitute is Manchester singer / songwriter's Minerva Daisy's first single of 2021, a reflective look back on lessons learnt from a all-consuming failed relationship set to an upbeat piano arrangement and layered vocals that build as the song progresses. It provides an intriguing contrast to the darker subject matter of the lyrics. 

Substitute is Minerva's fourth single on the back of last year's Call Me The Criminal, Look At Me and Whiskey Bottle. The song is about learning that love isn't everything it's cracked up to be and that sometimes it can be toxic rather than invigorating - "Substitute was a song written when I was filled with a lot of negativity, but now it feels more like a life lesson. I finally feel like I am in a place where I can release it and I gotta say, I poured my heart and soul into it"
