Ellysse Mason today reveals the video for her latest single I Don't Wanna
Dance, the follow-up to May's Something Good. The synth-heavy track is a
departure from her previous work and heads, ironically given the title,
straight to the dance floor.
It's a track that Ellysse is rightfully proud of and one that she feels
captures where she is musically at present - "I was so excited by the response
to my last single, but I'm even more excited for people to hear I Don't Wanna
Dance. I think the song really represents me as an artist right now and
clearly shows the direction I'm taking my music in."
Ellysee explains the meaning behind the song - "It's like when you're in a
party or in a club and the music is blaring and everyone is going at 100 miles
an hour and shouting over each other. You're with someone, but you can't
connect with them in that environment. You just want to be alone with them,
get on a train and run away somewhere you can be yourself..."
The video was shot by James Oldham in an old converted Victorian Bath House
down in Hastings on the South Coast - "It's a bit of a mad house, with
loads of arcade games and stuff, it even has a bowling lane down one dies of
the room! All the lighting in the video is just always there.. The disco
lights, lasers, the big CARNIVAL sign... It's pretty mad as I say."
