Manchester Dogs Home Charity Fundraiser

Following the tragic fire at Manchester Dogs Home on Friday night, the £1m donations in twenty-four hours made news worldwide.  To show support locally a benefit gig has been arranged by Manchester venue bosses, managers, DJs and artists to take place at Sound Control on Sunday 21st September.

The event takes place between 3pm and 11pm at Sound Control, just off Oxford Road in Manchester, and features a host of local talent, who, like the venue, security and other staff are all giving their services for nothing.  There will also be a raffle with a number of prizes donated by local businesses and bands.

One of the organisers Ben Taylor, Events Manager at Sound Control, told us "As I'm sure everyone who heard the news about Manchester Dogs Home was, we were heartbroken to hear about the horrific fire last week. So straight away wanted to help by throwing a fundraiser, with every penny going to the home."

"Instantly, artists wanted to get on board and play the event, as well as people and businesses donating prizes to a raffle, which will take place on the night of the show."

"All my management, bar staff, security, sound + lighting engineers have agreed to work for free, as have all the artists appearing on the day. And we're all looking forward to a great day, and raising as much money for the home as we can."

Jordan Allen, who's playing at the event, has a special reason for wanting to play "When I saw what happened at the Dogs Home I was devastated. The place means a lot to me, I got my collie Parsley from there. They deserve all the help we can get and I am honoured to be able to help raise some money for such a great cause."

Tickets are £5 in advance and £10 on the door - available from this link.  There is also a Facebook event page for the concert.

If you can't make it, you can still donate to the Dogs' Home with this link and read about the wonderful work they perform here.
