TRACK OF THE DAY : Hannah Ashcroft - Landfire

Landfire is the long-awaited debut single from Hannah Ashcroft, her first new material since her 2016 EP The Quiet Kind. The song pulls on some of her experience travelling, working and busking across the UK, Europe and Australia in the intervening years.

Hannah explains the background to Landfire - “The track evolved from an intense living situation while working in the outback. It was a strange sensation, feeling both socially overwhelmed and completely isolated in a small, rural town.”

The single, recorded with musicians from The Travelling Band and BC Camplight, manages to both capture the acoustic qualities that come from her time busking and countless support slots around the venues of the Northern Quarter of Manchester with the groove of something like Peggy Lee's Fever in an intoxicating mix that gets more ambitious and successful as the track progresses. Having waited three years for new material, hopefully there will be plenty more to come in 2020.

Hannah Ashcroft's official site can be found here is on Facebook and Twitter. She plays Manchester Yes on December 18 to launch the single.
