EVEN THE STARS PLAYLIST 5

Welcome to the fifth of our playlists of ten songs that we've been listening to all week.

1. Molly Burch - Downhearted

Downhearted is one of the key tracks on Molly's album Please Be Mine which came out in February, which we picked up on when it was being played in Piccadilly Records (one of our favourite sources of new material). She's on tour in the UK in May.

Molly Burch's official site can be found here. She is also on Facebook and Twitter.

2. Kelly Lee Owens - Anxi

From her self-titled debut album out this week, Anxi features Jenny Hval on guest vocals.

Kelly Lee Owens is on Facebook and Twitter.

3. Déjà Vega - Friends In High Places

Described as one of the six bands that could save rock and roll by Gigslutz, Friends In High Places is the last single that Déjà Vega released before they head into the studio to record their debut album.

Déjà Vega are on FacebookTwitter and Soundcloud.

4. Embers - Unbound

Unbound is the double A-side of Embers' new single with Signs and it's a song in a similar vein in that it puts Embers' expansive ambitious sound in plain view for everyone to see.

Embers website can be found here. They are also on Facebook and Twitter

5. Ride - Home Is A Feeling

One of the two songs recently revealed as a taster for their forthcoming album Weather Dreams that's just been announced for June. Unmistakably Ride, despite the time that's lapsed since their last record, it does what so many bands have tried to copy in the interim.

Ride's official website can be found here. They are also on Facebook and Twitter.

6. Giungla - Cold

Giungla hails from Bologna in Italy and has been making a name for herself for her effects and reverb-laden guitar sounds that merge with her direct vocals. A big hit at SXSW recently by all accounts.

Giungla is on Facebook and Twitter.

7. Velvet Two Stripes - Got Me Good

After being away for a few years since their debut album VTS, Swiss trio Velvet Two Stripes are back with the lead track from a forthcoming EP that takes no prisoners like the album that preceded it.

Velvet Two Stripes' website can be found here.  They are also on Facebook and Twitter.

8. Pip Blom - I Think I'm In Love

I Think I'm In Love is the latest single from the Dutch four-piece band who've been winning over crowds across Europe as they've supported Surfer Blood for the past few weeks.

Pip Blom's official website can be found here and they are on Facebook and Twitter.

9. Dolls - Kid Kannibal

We're started to develop a taste for two piece bands with just guitar and drums as their weapons. London's Dolls are the latest and Kid Kannibal is the b-side to their recent single Audrey (and superior to the A-side in our humble opinion).

Dolls are on Facebook and Twitter.

10. Otherkin - Bad Advice

Dublin's Otherkin have just toured to support the release of their latest single ahead of their debut album and have won over a whole new bunch of admirers with their own style of high on adrenaline punk influenced sounds, of which Bad Advice is a fine example.

Otherkin's official site can be found here and they are on Facebook and Twitter.
