talker, aka Celeste Taucher, releases Sad Chick, her first solo release since last year's Wax EP. As ever talker isn't afraid to write about the downsides of human feelings and emotions and deliver them in an accessible way without turning the listener off.
Sad Chick is the first track to be lifted from talker's forthcoming new record
and is, she tells us, "about the mundane and absurd parts of our depression
and how sometimes it can feel so melodramatic, even if it’s how we feel. The
song is a self-aware, tongue-in-cheek acceptance of that reality. No, I
haven’t changed my clothes in three days. No, I can’t find my keys and haven’t
left my house in a while. But it’s also a song of liberation - it’s absolutely
okay to feel like this sometimes and just accept things as they are."
The accompanying video captures the essence of the song perfectly, the sense that everything is going crazy around you while you're still stuck in whatever is holding you down at that moment in time and the world expects you to deal with it.
