TRACK OF THE DAY : James - Miss America (Library Session)

James have revealed an intimate stripped down version of Miss America from their recent All The Colours Of You album. The track was recorded during the band's first post-lockdown get together at Broughton Hall in Skipton in May and is one of four tracks featured on their forthcoming Campfire EP that precedes their UK tour with Happy Mondays that kicks off on November 25.

Magic America, as you can tell from the video, wasn't recorded around the campfire as the other three tracks on the EP were, but in the stunning library in the hall surrounded by a priceless collection of books and furniture.

Tim explained some of the meaning behind the lyrics to the One Of The Three James page earlier this year - "The Miss America pageants used to be so white and 1950s throwback pre-feminism. Women have to look pretty and be giddy and stupid. They’d be asked crazy questions that make them look stupid too. And then Trump used to run Miss America beauty pageants. And then I’m leaving America – ‘miss America’ – there’s levels of puns I could work with, there’s rich ground.”

The EP is available to preorder from the band's store. It also features Magic Bus and Recover from All The Colours Of You as well as classic track Just Like Fred Astaire, all recorded round the campfire at Broughton Hall.

James' official website can be found here. They are on Facebook and Twitter.  Some of the band - TimAndy and Dave - are also on Twitter.

They play a UK and Ireland tour supported by Happy Mondays calling at Leeds First Direct Arena (November 25), Birmingham Utilita Arena (26), Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (28), Glasgow Hydro (30), Dublin 3Arena (December 1), Manchester Arena (3) and London Wembley Arena (4) before heading to Porto Super Bock Arena Pavilhao Rosa Mota (12) and Lisbon Campo Pequeno (13). They've recently announced a 2022 date at Manchester Castlefield Bowl (July 2)

We also run the One Of The Three James archive, the most detailed resource for information about the band, and the site also has a Facebook and Twitter page.
