Horsebeach - II


II is the second album by Manchester's Horsebeach, aka Ryan Kennedy, following on from last year's self-titled debut album that was a word-of-mouth hit around the city. Lovers of that album won't be disappointed by his new one; it retains many of the same attributes that made us fall in love with it.

Jane Weaver / Horsebeach - Manchester Deaf Institute - 21st March 2015


Currently enjoying a renaissance, Jane Weaver sold out The Deaf Institute weeks in advance of this show, a sign that her star is in the ascendancy as the ripples around last year's The Silver Globe album become more of a wave as she prepares the release of an expanded version. Local heroes Horsebeach opened up the evening and enhanced the positive impact they've made so far.

On the back of the release of their debut album Ratworld last week, Menace Beach set off on a whistlestop UK tour starting off at Manchester's Castle Hotel on Monday night. Support came from local favourites Horsebeach and The Hipshakes.

Horsebeach - Horsebeach

Imagine fusing Morrissey and Marr's Smiths debut album era brains together and transporting them forward thirty years to the digital age.  We reckon that it'd sound pretty much like Horsebeach, a truly gripping, beautifully melodic debut album recorded straight to tape in a flat in central Manchester.
