Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott brought the third night of their tour in support of their number one album NK-Pop to the resplendent surroundings of Blackpool Opera House on Monday night supported by Billy Bragg. A career-spanning set from Paul's earliest days in The Housemartins right up to tracks from NK Pop delighted an initially reticent seated audience and had the whole building on their feet by the end to celebrate two of music's most enduring characters.

Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott - Manchester Castlefield Bowl - 23rd September 2021

Two songs in and Paul Heaton thanks us for a number of things, being careful, being patient after the multiple reschedulings of this show, for giving him and Jacqui their first number one in twenty three years with the appropriately titled Manchester Calling and telling us that we deserve "a good night out." With the most endearing duo around that was pretty much guaranteed as they ran through a mammoth twenty-five song set calling in at The Housemartins, The Beautiful South, Biscuit Boy and the growing Heaton / Abbott catalogue.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott - Manchester Castlefield Bowl - 6th July 2018

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott made a triumphant return to Manchester's Castlefield Bowl as part of the Sounds Of The City. With a set spanning back to Paul's days with The Housemartins right through to a new as-yet-unreleased track, a capacity crowd bathed in the very un-Mancunian sun and paid homage to the most unassuming of musical heroes.

Even The Stars Albums Of The Year 2015 - 12 to 9

It's that time of year again when we reveal our favourite records of the year. There's been so many great albums made this year that not all of them could make the final cut and it's been a hard choice to whittle them down to just twenty. We continue our countdown today from 12 to 9.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott - Wisdom, Laughter And Lines

Wisdom, Laughter And Lines is the second album since Paul Heaton reunited with his old sparring partner Jacqui Abbott from their days in The Beautiful South. After the slightly unexpected success of What Have We Become, Wisdom, Laughter And Lines is everything you'd expect from a Heaton-composed album, intelligent articulate and observational lyrics on a range of subject matters close to his heart combined with an unerring knack of delivering a tune that's both simple in execution but also an impossible to shift ear worm. It's a perfect title for the album too as the songs tell stories about life and love and politics, all shaded by Heaton's dark battered and bruised take on the world.

Paul Heaton And Jacqui Abbott / The Lottery Winners - Manchester Academy 2 - 12th December 2014

In a career spanning over thirty years, Paul Heaton has been responsible for some of the most easily identifiable songs of that period.  He's currently enjoying a critical renaissance based on this year's album What Have We Become with ex-Beautiful South bandmate Jacqui Abbott. Tonight they round off a successful year and a sold-out UK tour with a Hope Not Hate charity show in the relatively intimate surroundings of Manchester Academy 2.

Paul Heaton And Jacqui Abbott - Salford Kings Arms - 23rd October 2014

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott took the unusual step of opening up their rehearsals for their upcoming Irish tour to the public in the beautiful little venue hidden away on the top floor of Paul's Salford pub The Kings Arms.  Our friend Glenn Wallworth went along and the afternoon more than lived up to his expectations.
