The Slow Readers Club / Jordan Allen - Manchester Ritz - 19th December 2019

The first of The Slow Readers Club's two night homecoming at Manchester's Ritz, the scene of one of their many breakthrough performances over the past few years, felt very much like an intimate show, a band stepping down from their natural habitat and delivering a show of passion and intensity that was arena-sized but still connected to their fervent fan base. Support came from Jordan Allen.

TRACK OF THE DAY : Jordan Allen - Never Give It Up

After eight months out in the wilderness, Jordan Allen is back with a fiercely independent new single Never Give It Up and a new band.  Having already sold out Gorilla in Manchester three months in advance and with a set of new songs readied for release, he's destined to make good the years of waiting and to do it on his own terms.

TRACK OF THE DAY : Jordan Allen - R.O.S.I.E.

When Jordan Allen released his Livin' La Vida Bolton EP earlier this year, it was clear from the reaction both to the release and at live shows, that R.O.S.I.E. was the fan favourite. Rebooted and with a video that perfectly matches the message of the song, it's now being given the single treatment it richly deserves ahead of Jordan's huge UK headline tour.

When In Manchester 2017 - Manchester Northern Quarter - 15th April 2017 (The Strawberries, Berries, Jack Oliver Monty, Sapho, Ivory Wave, Where Fires Are, Asylums, Foxe, Jordan Allen)

The third When In Manchester Festival spread its wings further than before with four stages in Manchester's Northern Quarter hosting 23 bands from across the country with a rich diverse mix of styles that's sadly lacking in most festival line-ups. The only problem we had was choosing which bands to see.

Dot To Dot Festival is now a fixture in the late May bank holiday weekend in Manchester. It moved to the Northern Quarter a couple of years ago due to the close vicinity of dozens of great little gig spaces. We trekked round the venues catching some of our favourite bands as well as some new ones avoiding most of the big names.

Liam McClair / Jordan Allen / Hugo Kensdale - Manchester Dry Barge - 8th August 2015

A gig on a barge is a wonderful idea and the next in a series of interesting venues for Liam McClair in the build up to the launch of his Honest EP in September. Whilst the industrial sites of Trafford Park might not make the best canalside viewing, our attention was held by Liam, Jordan and Hugo's brilliant sets in a very unique setting.

Northside / The Slow Readers Club / Jordan Allen - Manchester Sound Control - 29th January 2015

One of Manchester's finest gig haunts, Sound Control, turned five with a birthday party celebration featuring a trio of Manchester's finest bands - a mix of the brand new, the locally established and criminally ignored and a reformed band reaching new glories. Jordan Allen, The Slow Readers Club and Northside made it a fitting tribute to the venue.
