LIINES / Berries / Threads - Manchester Deaf Institute - 21st July 2018
LIINES played their biggest headline show to date at the Deaf Institute and what a triumph it turned out to be. Three hundred or so like-minded souls, lovers of music, were joined together by the rapid-fire, raw sound of Zoe, Leila and Tamsin and their album Stop-Start and some new songs that suggest their star is set to rise further. Support came from London's Berries and Manchester's Threads.

Liverpool Sound City (Berries / Average Sex / Hey Charlie / Peaness / Dirty Laces / White Room / Dish Pit / Violet Youth / The Seamonsters) - Various Venues - 6th May 2018
Day two of Liverpool Sound City saw us avoid the big venues and headline acts and concentrate on some of the smaller stages and bands that have been on our must-see list for a while or those we'd missed when they were last in Manchester. Across another scorching hot day in Liverpool, we caught The Seamonsters, Violet Youth, Dishpit, White Room, Dirty Laces, Peaness, Hey Charlie, Average Sex and Berries.

Day 3 and the final instalment of this year's Head For The Hills festival saw us strike lucky with the rain holding off for most of the day and the most diverse line up of the three days that allowed us to wander round the site and catch a little bit of almost everything during the course of the afternoon and the evening. We caught up with Berries, Ailbhe Reddy, Hawk, Tankus The Henge, Will Varley, Martin Harley and Stained Glass Ceiling.

Berries - Interview
Berries are one of the most-talked about new bands in the country at present. Following on the back of their debut Those Funny Things EP and great reviews for their live shows, both in London and on their travels in Manchester and Sheffield, they've just released Wild Vow as the first taster of their second EP. They head north again on Sunday for a slot at Head For The Hills Festival in Ramsbottom. We caught up with Holly for a chat to find out more about them.

Berries - Manchester Soup Kitchen - 19th August 2017
Berries made their return to Manchester following a successful well-received set at April's When In Manchester Festival for an opening slot at Proletariat's sold out Soup Kitchen show. With tracks from their debut Those Funny Things EP and, crucially, a set of new songs that should see the light of day in the not too distant future, they demonstrated that they're one of the most exciting new bands around.

Track Of The Day : Berries - Wild Vow
Anyone who reads this blog regularly will know we think Berries are one of the best new bands in the country. Their These Funny Things EP was one of our highlights of last year and their debut Manchester performance at the When In Manchester festival stole the show for us. They're back with their first new material since the EP, a song called Wild Vow

When In Manchester 2017 - Manchester Northern Quarter - 15th April 2017 (The Strawberries, Berries, Jack Oliver Monty, Sapho, Ivory Wave, Where Fires Are, Asylums, Foxe, Jordan Allen)
The third When In Manchester Festival spread its wings further than before with four stages in Manchester's Northern Quarter hosting 23 bands from across the country with a rich diverse mix of styles that's sadly lacking in most festival line-ups. The only problem we had was choosing which bands to see.

Berries - Those Funny Things EP
Back in July we previewed Sirens, the opening track on Berries' debut EP Those Funny Things on Shell Zenner's Amazing Radio. The EP is now ready to be released to the world and to our delight Siren proved to be just a taster of the wonders of the other five tracks.

Track Of The Day : Berries - Siren
Siren is the lead track from London three-piece Berries' debut six-track EP Those Funny Things due out on August 19th. It's a fabulously laid-back and loose three and a half minutes with one of those hooks and a guitar solo that packs a killer punch just underneath its surface.
