TRACK OF THE DAY 2 : Ride - Future Love


Ride return with a new single Future Love and the announcement of their sixth album, and second since their reformation, This Is Not A Safe Place due for release in August. Future Love manages to both recreate the euphoric optimism Ride's glorious Going Blank Again past whilst sounding fresh and reinvigorated in a way many reformed bands struggle to do close to three decades after their first commercial peak.

James / Ride / Low Island / Maximo Park - Oxford Common People - 27th May 2018



James concluded their mini intimate venue and festival tour with a headline slot at Oxford's Common People festival on Sunday night on a bill that also included an emotional homecoming show for Ride, a set by up-and-coming local band Low Island and an entertaining career-spanning set from Maximo Park.

Ride / Spectres - Manchester Ritz - 11th July 2017


Ride released their first album in twenty one years last month in Weather Diaries and announced this one-off Manchester International Festival show at The Ritz. An expectant audience were treated to a set that got the balance between new and old spot on and revealed them to be one of the few bands that have reformed to match, and at points exceed, former glories. Support came from Spectres.

Ride - Liverpool O2 Academy - 15th October 2015


After a series of jubilant triumphant shows in early summer, Ride announced an October tour and speculation was rife whether they would use the tour to revisit their debut album Nowhere, celebrating twenty five years to the day since its release in full. Very late in the day, they announced the shows would feature two sets, the first a mix of songs from across their career and the second the album in full. As there was no Manchester show, us and half the audience got the train over to relive one of the defining indie albums of the early 1990s.

Ride - Manchester Albert Hall - 23rd May 2015


Ride's return to Manchester was one of the most anticipated gigs of the year. A band whose legend seemed to grow with every year they were away even amongst those too young to have been there first time round. We wiped away a dewy-eyed reminiscence and went to the Albert Hall to see if they could fulfill all those expectations and we weren't disappointed.
