Embers - Manchester Night And Day - 1st March 2017

It's been almost eighteen months since Embers last graced the stage and that was after a similar length hiatus and we feared they'd gone. Now, hopefully free of the shackles of the business side of the business, and with a new drummer on board, they're back and they started off low-key with a support slot at the Night And Day. Their Manchester fan base though picked up on it and they played a six-song set of new and old songs to an ecstatic response as if they'd never been away.

EVEN THE STARS PLAYLIST 1

We've decided to start a regular playlist of new songs we're listening to. Our first playlist consists of 20 songs we've had on rotation the past few months. We hope you like them. Future playlists will be posted when we've got 10 songs to share.

Track Of The Day : Embers - Signs

After what seems like an eternity, Embers are back and their new single Signs reveals that they've not lost any of the graceful power that had us salivating at the prospect of what they could achieve when they launched their debut single Part Of The Echoes back in 2013.  Declaring on their Facebook page "We're going to hang around this time too. Promise."

Track Of The Day 2 : Embers - The Bitten Tongue

The Bitten Tongue is Embers' first new material released for over two years. Previewed at some of their recent rare live outings, it's immediately recognisible with Embers' DNA - an irresistible wave of soaring power that you know is coming, can feel building, but you're powerless to stop. Not that you'd want to as they uplift you and envelop you in beautiful warm sonic waves.  The song is available as a free download on their Soundcloud page.

A Carefully Planned Festival Day 1 - Manchester - 17th October - Jess Bryant / Emma Kupa / Mammoth Penguins / Embers / Mayors Of Miyazaki / The Spook School

A Carefully Planned Festival takes over most of the Northern Quarter's venues for a weekend every October with an eclectic mix of emerging bands from all over the country, many of which we've never heard of let alone heard. We caught six acts on day one, ranging from the solo Jess Bryant playing her first Manchester show for several years, through Emma Kupa playing two sets as herself and leading Mammoth Penguins, Manchester favourites Embers to the full on rock of the magnificently titled Mayors Of Miyazaki and The Spook School.

Embers / Lucky T Jackson - Salford Eagle Inn - 3rd July 2015

It's been a long time since we last saw Embers. This is only their second gig in at least twelve months and their first of the year. We feared the worst for them, but we're delighted to report they're back armed with a set of big big songs and, of course, some of the marauding epic anthems that made us fall in love with them in the first place. Support came from an acoustic set by Lucky T Jackson.

Track Of The Day : Some Kind Weather - My Demons

It's been quiet from one of our Tips for 2015 Embers. We've found out part of the reason - drummer Nathan has also been working on another project called Some Kind Weather. My Demons is the lead track from an EP that's being slated for a release later in the year.

Even The Stars Tips For 2015 - Day One

Welcome to the first day of Even The Stars' tips for 2015. They're not necessarily artists that we think will make a big breakthrough (except our Top Three which we'll reveal on New Year's Eve), but bands and solo artists that haven't released their debut album we're looking forward to hearing and see more of next year.

Day One's bands are Cavalry, Embers, Larkins, My Igloo, The Sundowners, We Are Willow, The Telepathic Evils and Laura Doggett.
