Thousand Yard Stare - It Sparks EP

It Sparks! is the first new material from Thousand Yard Stare since 2017’s Deep Dreaming / Stargazing double EP. Backed with a stripped back pastoral version of Tragedy No 6 from their second album Mappamundi and a demo version of the single, it shows they’ve still got plenty to give.

25 YEARS ON - Thousand Yard Stare : Hands On

Back in 2015, there was much excitement at Even The Stars as we discovered a band we loved when we were young had regrouped for a one off show. The band were held in such esteem that we clocked up over 1000 miles between us to go and see them. We were blown away by them as musically they hadn't aged in the slightest. Drawing heavily from their debut album Hands On, Thousand Yard Stare were themselves overwhelmed by the adulation of the packed, sweaty Borderline crowd that they continued their adventure, recording a new album and subsequently touring the country to great acclaim, winning over new fans in the process. Today incredibly marks 25 years since Hands On was released.

Thousand Yard Stare / Our Fold - Manchester Deaf Institute - 29th September 2016

The reformation of Thousand Yard Stare was possibly not high on the list of "reunions you'd like to see" polls, but for those that fell for the charms of Slough's finest in the early 1990s it was one of the most exciting announcements of last year. Freshly armed with Live At Electric Studios, an album of revisited versions of their finest songs and a selection of new ones, they're on their first UK tour for twenty-three years and we caught up with them at the opening night at Manchester's Deaf Institute. Support came from Bolton's Our Fold.

Thousand Yard Stare - Live At Electric Studios

A triumphant return for Slough’s finest, Live At Electric Studios captures Thousand Yard Stare in fine form indeed. Last summer Even The Stars ventured down to a hot and sweaty Borderline Club in London to witness what was supposed to be a one off reformation gig for Thousand Yard Stare. Such was the success of that night - indeed it was one of the gigs of the year for this blog - that the band decided to carry on, playing well received sets at a few of the big “Indie” compilation festivals with the likes of Inspiral Carpets and The Wonder Stuff.  Earlier this year, the band decided to book some studio time and Live At Electric Studios is the result.

Thousand Yard Stare - London Borderline - 6th June 2015

Twenty-three years since they last played a gig, Thousand Yard Stare staged a one off show at London's Borderline. At Even The Stars there was much excitement at the news of a reunion and we made the journey south to catch them. We, and the rest of the crowd, were not disappointed.

Thousand Yard Stare - Interview

Starting their career with a series of sell-out EPs that grabbed them a major label deal and support slots with James and Carter USM, Thousand Yard Stare were one of the most creative indie bands emerging in the early years of the 1990s. They recorded two albums Hands On and Mappamundi before calling it a day. They've recently announced a London date on June 6 to raise funds for a cancer charity.
