2022 was a year that many of our favourite artists didn't release an album after last year's run of them. So our 2022 list is a little more varied than in previous years and features a lot of artists that go under the radar of most mainstream lists with a couple of exceptions. In this first post we count down our favourite ten from 10 to 6

talker - In Awe Of Insignificance EP

In Awe Of Insignificance, talker's third EP, is more a mini-album than an EP as the Los Angeles-based artist spreads her wings and delivers a series of songs that deal with the pressures of modern day living and its impact on mental health. Raw and revelatory in lyrical content, it explores a number of musical styles from the dancefloor to a simpler stripped down approach.

talker, aka Celeste Taucher, releases Sad Chick, her first solo release since last year's Wax EP. As ever talker isn't afraid to write about the downsides of human feelings and emotions and deliver them in an accessible way without turning the listener off.

Wax is Los Angeles-based talker's second EP, a journey of self-discovery set across six tracks including previous singles Keep Me Safe, Learning The Feeling and Suck Up plus three new songs.

Suck Up is the latest track to be taken from talker's forthcoming EP due for release at the start of next month. It's a song that deals in self-doubt and uncertainty about which of multi-personalities is the real one with a video that captures the mood of the song perfectly.

talker's latest single Learning The Feeling is a song about opening yourself up, standing up for yourself and not being afraid of who you are, what you represent and what you feel. It's the follow-up, both chronologically and lyrically, from her previous single Keep Me Safe - and a song that Celeste (talker) describes as "I've never felt so sure about a song."
