Even The Stars Tips For 2015 - Day One

Welcome to the first day of Even The Stars' tips for 2015. They're not necessarily artists that we think will make a big breakthrough (except our Top Three which we'll reveal on New Year's Eve), but bands and solo artists that haven't released their debut album we're looking forward to hearing and see more of next year.

Day One's bands are Cavalry, Embers, Larkins, My Igloo, The Sundowners, We Are Willow, The Telepathic Evils and Laura Doggett.

CAVALRY

Cavalry are a five-piece based in Liverpool that to date have released two tracks Lament and Leaves and built up a growing profile with support slots with the likes of British Sea Power, The Antlers and Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks.

They describe themselves as "an intimate and anthemic brand of Alt-Folk, laden with disarming harmonies and compelling textures."

Cavalry are on Facebook and Twitter.

EMBERS

Embers were one of our breakthrough bands of 2013 with their debut single Part Of The Echoes, but they've been relatively quiet in 2014. A show with Outfit at Gullivers in Manchester in October suggests that there may be more activity in 2015.

Embers' website can be found here.  They are also on FacebookTwitterSoundcloudBandcamp and You Tube.

LARKINS

Larkins are a recent discovery for us, performing at the Whisky Sessions Unsigned gig in Manchester in October.  Their debut EP was released online earlier this year. They told Popdead recently "We’d like to think that the ideas we have are our own, and that we’re original, and in a way, we’re still sort of searching for our sound."

They play Manchester's Night And Day tomorrow (27th) and Retro (30th).

Larkins are on Soundcloud, Facebook and Twitter.

MY IGLOO

Describing themselves as a "5 piece garage & Zappa influenced band with sounds of Reggae, Soul, Blues & Psychedelic running through their music", My Igloo have been gigging around Manchester for most of 2014, building a growing following and expanding their sound with the addition of a sax player.

They play The Bierkeller in Manchester on January 8th.

My Igloo's website can be found here.  They are also on FacebookSoundcloud and Twitter.

THE SUNDOWNERS

Wirral-based five-piece The Sundowners were formed as long ago as 2010 and have built their reputation on the back of a series of limited edition singles and gigs supporting the likes of Ren Harvieu and Kasabian. Their self-titled debut album that their PR describes as "11 tracks of psyche-folk, harmony heavy, well-crafted pop gems" is due for release on January 26th.

The Sundowners' website can be found here.  They are also on Facebook and Twitter.

WE ARE WILLOW

We Are Willow are a Manchester-based collective that "found life in 2010 between artist/musician Chris Butler and illustrator/letterer/designer Daren Newman. A collective born from two friends passionate about art and music".  They released a series of limited EPs in decorated sleeves to great local acclaim (you can listen to these in full on their Soundcloud) as well as number of other musical projects.

They're playing only their second gig as a seven-piece on January 24th at Gullivers in Manchester.

We Are Willow's website can be found here. They are also on Twitter and Soundcloud.

THE TELEPATHIC EVILS

Take one ex-Easyworld bass player and the lead in a nationwide Buddy Holly stage show and you get The Telepathic Evils. They've only given us one track to date, but they've recently been in Blueprint Studios to record further tracks that we can't wait to hear in 2015.

The Telepathic Evils are on Twitter.

LAURA DOGGETT

Recently signed to the RCA label and with her forthcoming single Old Faces featured on ITV's Broadchurch series, Laura Doggett looks set for huge things in 2015. The West Country singer boasts a show-stopping dramatic voice with a range that few of her contemporaries can match as demonstrated on previous single Moonlight.

Laura's website can be found here. She can found on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.
