Even The Stars Top 20 Albums Of 2014 - 20 to 17

This week we will be running down our Top 20 albums of 2014, four albums a day.  We start with the albums in 20th to 17th position.

20 - ESBEN AND THE WITCH - A NEW NATURE

At number 13 in Stuart's chart of the year and unplaced in Dave's, Esben And The Witch's third album was released in September.

We said - "A slow and melancholic end to an epic, epic record. A New Nature is destined to become one of those records that folk will still be talking about in decades and it will probably sell as many copies this year as it does every year, for years and years to come." (Stuart)

19 - CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN - THE BALCONY

At number 13 in Dave's chart of the year and unplaced in Stuart's, Catfish And The Bottlemen's The Balcony was also released in September.

We said - "That a band can make a breakthrough after six years hard slog should be an inspiration to each and every band out there playing to thirty of their mates at the Dog and Parrot in suburbia." (Dave)

18 - HIGH HAZELS - HIGH HAZELS

At number 12 in Dave's chart of the year and unplaced in Stuart's, High Hazel's self-titled debut album was released in November.

We said - "There's been a lot of talk recently about a much-needed renaissance of rock music in the public conscience.  High Hazels are ploughing a completely different furrow, but one that's been equally ignored in recent years.  Their self-titled debut is possibly the finest pure guitar pop album of the year." 17 - GULP - SEASON SUN

At number 10 in Stuart's chart of the year and unplaced in Dave's, Gulp's debut album was released in July.

We said - "With Season Sun, Gulp have produced the perfect summer record, full of psychedelic sixties harmonies, tinged with electronica, ideal for relaxing on these hot balmy evenings." (Stuart)
