To Be The One You Choose is the second single from Irish singer Amy Naessens, the long-overdue follow-up to her debut Reasons from back in mid-2018. An intensely powerful vocal adds gravitas and genuine emotion to lyrics about a failing relationship where the other person wasn't as in to her as she was to them.
Amy explains that To Be The One You Choose was about the realisation of the situation she found herself in at the time - “I wrote the song when I realised I was somebody’s second best and there was nothing I could do about it, except write a song”.
It's raw and close to the bone, confessional and laying her feelings bare, and her vocals really elicit a response from the listener in the way they make you know that this is a painful process that Amy is going through, still in love with the song's protagonist, as she declares "I'm always one step behind the constant change of mind on your behalf, still I crawl back. I would let you take my breath away, only if you give it back"
