TRACK OF THE DAY : Simeon Hammond Dallas - August

Simeon Hammond Dallas's new single August drops as that month draws to a close and moves into September. It's a break-up song timed to coincide with the end of the month - sharply observing that "we're all fools for love and desire" as it picks over the remains of a relationship and being misled by a narcissist and his games with a honesty and clarity before looking forwards.

Whilst she's made her name as a black woman in a very white country genre, the single avoids being typecast as it resonates with a rich soulful vocal that accentuates the feelings of loss but wraps them in a sense that things will be OK in the end. The forceful sounds of last year's single Wild Woman are replaced by something with a lot of blues and soul and a stratocaster guitar that allows to escape easy categorisation. It's the first insight we're given to her forthcoming Make it Romantic.
