TRACK OF THE DAY : The Murder Capital - A Thousand Lives

The Murder Capital continue their long-awaited return with a new single A Thousand Lives and the announcement of their second album Gigi's Recovery and a UK and European tour for February 2023.

Like its predecessor Only Good Things, A Thousand Lives isn't as dark as the band's debut album When I Have Fears, which featured songs about the deaths of close friends. The album's title gives a clue as to the focus of the new record as explained by front man James McGovern when discussing the single - "Knowing that the day is only X-hours long, alongside my understanding of how love can be the true restorative seed, means that if and when you are so lucky to find it (and it is true) the seemingly small glance that is our lifetime could never contain enough of those days or those hours. Even a thousand of those lifetimes would never be enough."

Gigi's Recovery will be released on January 20th 2023 on a number of formats - digital, CD, standard black LP, a Dinked transparent edition LP, independents-exclusive pink LP and an emerald edition LP accompanied by a 16-page lyric booklet and housed in a deluxe gatefold casing signed by the band.

It features twelve tracks - Existence, Crying, Return My Head, Ethel, The Stars Will Leave Their Stage, Belonging, The Lie Becomes the Self, A Thousand Lives, We Had To Disappear, Only Good Things, Gigi's Recovery and Exist.

The Murder Capital's official site can be found here and they are on Facebook and Twitter.

They tour in February at Antwerp Trix Club (February 4), Cologne Luxor (5), Hamburg Molotow (6), Berlin Lido (8), Munich Hansa 39 (9), Strasbourg La Laiterie (11), Paris Le Trabendo (13), Amsterdam Paradiso (14), Manchester Albert Hall (16), Glasgow SWG3 (18), Leeds Stylus (20), Birmingham The Mill (21), London O2 Kentish Town Forum (23), Bristol The Marble Factory (24), Dublin Vicar Street (26) and Cardiff Tramshed (27).
