The Miserable Rich return after a decade-long hiatus with a new single
Glue, a deeply personal
song to front man James de Malplaquet and his wife Sarah about the loss of their first son and the impact it had on their lives.
“You two must stick together like glue" - the words of the nurse at the
hospital where James and Sarah's first son Kit died after just thirteen
songs. That phrase provided the inspiration for this song but so much more.
Inspired to try and prevent parents going through the same pain they had,
they formed the Kit Tarka Foundation to help fund research into neonatal
herpes. All proceeds from the single will be donated to The Lullaby Trust who have recently taken over the work of the foundation.
As part of those activities James reformed The Miserable Rich, a band he had
been part of until they split in 2012, and ran a festival called KitFest.
They wrote a new song for the event - Glue - and it is fitting that this is
the first single the band have released in over a decade and the lead track from an as yet untitled and unannounced album. Jennifer Left, a
supporter of the charity since the start, joined to provide the female
vocals on the track.
The Miserable Rich had previously released three albums - Twelve Ways To Count (2008), Of Flight And Fury (2010) and Miss You In The Days (2011).
