TRACK OF THE DAY : Lindsay Munroe - Mirror

Mirror is the lead track from Lindsay Monroe's forthcoming EP Our Heaviness set for release in May to coincide with her two biggest headline shows to date.

Lindsay explains the meaning behind the song Mirror and how it involves looking backwards to be able to understand yourself now and be better going forwards - “I started writing Mirror whilst reflecting on a fantasy I had as an insecure teenager. I used to wish I could be physically malleable, like a clay sculpture, able to change my body to fit into different standards and situations. That made me really angry, that I had ever felt like that. But the song is also a celebration of the way that other people can see you more clearly than you see yourself and how that can change our self-perception.”

That approach to the song creates a very positive role model in the way Lindsay takes aim at those that tried to shape her in a way she wasn't comfortable with, yet it's done to a tune that's upbeat, uplifting and which adds to the message of the song particularly in the chorus sections.

Lindsay Munroe's website can be found here and she is on Facebook and Twitter.

She plays Manchester Castle Hotel (March 2, with Heather Woods Broderick), York Forty Five Vinyl Cafe (6), Manchester Soup Kitchen (May 9) and London The Grace (15).
