TRACK OF THE DAY : Ist Ist - Something Has To Give

Ist Ist have today released Something Has To Give, the third single to be taken from their forthcoming album Protagonists, and its accompanying video.

Something Has To Give nods very firmly to the band's early days as a full-on in your face whirlwind of a band that would threaten to blow your head off at close quarters and captures better than any of their previous singles the energy of their live performances. Close your eyes as the breakdown hits and hell breaks loose and you are transported to one of their shows. It's in those shows where they've made their mark as they've moved from support slots in the Northern Quarter through to headlining the Ritz powered only by word of mouth and the sheer bloody-mindedness and belief in their art and a widening appreciative fan base not just at home but further afield, in Europe and soon the US as they head to SXSW in March.

Ist Ist's front man Adam Houghton explains the meaning behind the lyrics to the track which summises many of the themes that he addresses across the course of the Protagonists album that is released at the end of March - "Something Has To Give is all about new beginnings. It’s a sort of stick or twist situation. Do you settle or go for it?"
