TRACK OF THE DAY : New Divide - Delora

Delora is the second single by Manchester-based band New Divide, the follow-up to last year's debut All I Am.

Delora is a dark song lyrically, about the manipulation that goes on behind closed doors in relationships and its destructive impact - "you only call me when you're off you're head" is the key line that the song keeps coming back to even though musically it takes the listener on a four-minute journey, never returning to the same spot and showing an experimentation with structures that many bands at the start of their careers shy away from in search of a perfect pop song.

New Divide's singer Charlotte explains further - “Delora is the amalgamation of the toxic people in a relationship that manipulate their partner, controlling them through guilt and conditional love until they become the only one you rely upon. Written when their corrupted love turns to an obsession over another, someone, or something else, you learn that you have begun to covet their attention, to depend upon them.”

They also recently performed a session for Showstream

New Divide are on Facebook and Twitter.

They play Manchester Aatma (February 25), Manchester Yes (March 23) and Blackpool Dirty Blondes (31).
